The sixth grader's at Boston Workmen's Circle Shule Sunday School are doing a photo/blog exchange with Bedouin students. We expect that by seeing photos of the everyday life of young people in the Middle East, our students will get a better understanding of what life looks for children of different backgrounds. This is part of our curriculum on the history and current life in Israel and Palestine.

My favorite place is to go is New York. New York is enormous. I've been to Times Square, Manhattan and I'm going to the capitol of New York, Albany, to see my sister's graduation from law school. It's going to be awesome. I wish I could go everyday. Are there main attractions in your country?

One thing about school that is great is there are special ones for smarter kids. It can help since nobody needs to catch up. i am in one and like it. What is your school like?

There are a lot of places in the world that play an important role in my life. My two favorite places in the world are my homes. The main place I live is in Lincoln Massachusetts. It is right by a farm called Drumlin Farm and my friend Ruby lives right nextdoor. My second home is shared with my cousins and aunt and uncle. It is right by the ocean and I bike everywhere, and go swimming all the time. Another place that is important to me is a village in Switzerland called Le Clee, where I stayed for two months. I have some family in Switzerland too. I also love some other places such as the Weston Ski-track because I spend a lot of time there in the winter.

Hi again, I go to Devotion School in Brookline, Massachusetts. In school right now in social studies we are learning about the middle ages. It is very interesting to learn about because I get to know about how hard life can be. In science I am learning about wetlands. This is my favorite subject because I think it’s interesting how wetlands are made and what animals and plants live there. In math I am learning about quadrants, which is fun because you get to plot points on a grid. In language arts I am learning about writing responses because on Wednesday and Friday the big test is coming up! The test consists of multiple choice and open response questions and every kid hates them. This dreaded test is called the MCAS. There are MCAS tests in science and math also. Lucky you don’t have to take them!

Every summer my family and I go camping. We sleep in a tent. My parents get to use an air mattress but my brother and I have to sleep on the ground in a sleeping bag. At night we make s’mores, which are sandwiches with gram crackers on the outside and chocolate and roasted marshmallows on the inside. We roast the marshmallows over a campfire. During the day we go hiking or to the beach.
Evelyn
I’m back! It’s Evelyn and I was wondering if you have any huge tests or exams at school. We have a yearly test called MCAS. MCAS stands for Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System, except all of the kids who take it call it Massachusetts Children’s Abuse System, or something like that. There’s a MCAS that we must take in English language arts and math. In eighth grade we must take a science MCAS as well!
I was also wondering if you could go anywhere in the whole wide world, where would it be? I think that I would like to go to Cape Cod. This is because it’s so peaceful out there and a way to get away from the city.

I go to the Rafael Hernández School in Boston, Massachusetts.
I really love that school, but sadly I am leaving this year. I don’t have
to leave but I am going to an exam school this year that runs ‘till 12th
grade. The school that I am going to next year is called Boston Latin
School. You learn the language “latin” there. The school that I am in
now is 6 hours long. At this point, my favorite subjects are reading
and writing. I am a great writer and people really enjoy my work a
lot, and I enjoy writing, too. Also, when I start reading a book, I read
it a lot. What are your favorite subjects in school?

Hi, I am Chloe. I am eleven-years-old and live in Lincoln Ma. In my family, I have my mom and dad, my dog Violet, and my little sister Sylvie. Violet is two years old and tiny. She has black and white spots and is extremely playful. Do you guys have any pets? Sylvie is nine and loves making things, animals, and playing outside.
How many siblings do you guys have (If any), and what do they like to do? In terms of pets, although I only have a dog, I also love to play with my friend’s chickens, cats, and goats. She let’s me name and “tame” her chickens. “My” chickens are Periwinkle, because she is very shy like one, and Marshmallow, because she is fluffy.

Hi! I'm Evelyn and I live in Brookline. I have a family of four, and live with my mom, dad, sister and pets. I have six pet rats (they are domestic so they don't bite).I am twelve years old and will be 13 in October.
I was wondering how big are your families? Do you have other pets besides farm animals and camels? Do you guys have jobs? I help babysit after school sometimes.

Hi! My name is Shaina Jewett-Wolf, and I am 12 years old. I have a very interesting family. My mother's grandmother, my great-grandmother, is still alive. She will turn 100 years old in May! She is VERY old. She lives in New York which is kind of close to Boston, Massachusetts but I rarely see her. I think the last time I saw her was about 5 years ago! My mom's mother used to live in New York, but moved to Newton, Massachusetts to be closer to my family to see us more often, and I see her at least 2 times each month. My mother lived in New York for her whole life, until she moved to Boston for college. My mom also has a sister who lives in Queens, New York. My father's parents live in Pennsylvania and I go to visit them twice a year. My father also has a sister who is married and has a child who is my cousin. He is around 20 years old. In my house, there are 4 people. My mother, father, brother who is 14 years old, and ME!!! We also have a dog who is 1 year old, and is the cutest thing ever! That is all about my family. I hope you found it interesting!
Can you tell me a little bit about your family and anything interesting about them?

My name is Zack and I have a very important family. My family is very interesting and smart. If I asked my dad a question he would always say the right thing to say. My mother would always cool me down when I feel sad. My parents and I are from Boston Massachusetts. My mother is originally from New Jersey. Also my father is from Dorchester Massachusetts.
My family is very interested in politics but is not into religion. I would like to know where you go with your family and what you do together.

In my family there is me, Sophie, my brother, Max, my mom, Sharon, and my dad Michael. We go on a lot of vacations for example we go skiing, the beach, bird watching, camping, and other cool things. During the summer I go to sleep away camp.
What do you do during the summer? In the fall there is a holiday called Halloween where you dress up in scary costumes and knock on people’s houses asking for candy; what holidays do you celebrate?

My family is extremely normal. There is nothing different about my family. They are people you live with and are a major part of your life.
I wonder what hobbies you have?
